United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
What is it?
The UN SDGs are a set of 17 global goals created by the United Nations in 2015. They are like a big plan to make the world a better place by the year 2030. These goals aim to solve big problems such as poverty, hunger, inequality, climate change, and access to education and health.
Why were they developed?
The SDGs were developed because many challenges around the world affect everyone, rich or poor, young or old, including our planet. The idea is that countries, communities, and individuals need to work together to create a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable world. The SDGs help everyone understand what needs to be done and encourage cooperation so we can reach these goals by 2030.
In simple terms:
- Think of the SDGs as a global to-do list for making the world a better place.
- They focus on things like ending poverty, protecting the environment, and ensuring everyone has a good education and healthcare.
- They were made because the world faces big problems that no single country can fix alone, so everyone around the world has to help.
